Programs

Our program arrangement and teaching style caters to all age groups and a fitness level with the minimum age of attendance is 5 years old. All classes involve a certain degree of physical contact and are focused around development of powerful stances and striking techniques as well as efficiency of movement, flexibility and general fitness. Currently the club offers four main training programs.

Jr. Kids Karate Classes (Ages 5 to 8) 

The classes are focused on exposing students to Dojo etiquette, basic techniques and development of self-confidence and discipline. This program puts emphasis on the following areas:

  • Fitness (Fun Cardio, Endurance and Strength Training Exercises)
  • Flexibility
  • Basic Coordination
  • Self-Awareness
  • Attention
  • Basic Blocking, Striking and Kicking Techniques
  • Discipline / Confidence Building Exercises
  • Respect (Through Reinforcement of Dojo Etiquette and Code of Conduct)
  • Belt Grading and Progression is Performance with Specific Requirements of Modified IKOKC Syllabus (copy available to all registered members).

 

Sr. Kids Karate Classes (Ages 9 to 12)

The classes incorporate similar components covered in the kid’s classes and focus further on development of both physical and mental capabilities required to master the fundamentals of Kyokushin Karate and Budo. This program accommodates both beginner and intermediate skill levels with emphasis on the following areas:

  • Dojo Etiquette and Code of Conduct
  • Fitness (Cardio, Endurance and Strength Training)
  • Flexibility (Static and Dynamic Training)
  • Explosive Power & Timing Training
  • Basic and Intermediate Blocking, Striking Techniques
  • Fighting Techniques & Combinations
  • No-Contact, Semi-Contact and Full-Contact Fighting
  • Self Defense
  • Temashiwari (Board Breaking)
  • Street Proofing – Anti Bullying Strategies
  • Further Understanding of Fundamentals of Kyokushin Karate and Budo
  • Belt Grading and Progression is Performance with Specific Requirements of Modified IKOKC Syllabus (copy available to all registered members).

Adults Karate Classes (Ages 13 and Up)

The program offers its participants a full body workout ranging from general improvement of physical fitness and flexibility to mastering various aspects of Kyokushin Karate. The program is gender neutral and is designed to accommodate all fitness levels with emphasis on the following areas:

  • Dojo Etiquette and Code of Conduct
  • Fitness (Cardio, Endurance and Strength Training)
  • Flexibility (Static and Dynamic Training)
  • Explosive Power & Timing Training
  • Basic and Advanced Blocking, Striking Techniques
  • Fighting Techniques & Combinations
  • Semi-Contact and Full-Contact Fighting
  • Self Defense
  • Temashiwari (Board Breaking)
  • Belt Grading and Progression is Performance with Specific Requirements of IKOKC Syllabus (copy available to all registered members).
  • Supplementary Core Strength Yoga

Fighting Classes (Ages 13 and Up)

The classes are structured to further develop realistic combat characteristics based on Kyokushin Karate and IchiGeki Kickboxing training fundamentals. The program puts emphasis on the following areas:

  • Cardio
  • Cores Strength
  • Footwork
  • Skill Development
  • Explosive Power and Timing
  • Focus Pads
  • Bag Work
  • Fighting Combinations
  • Tension Training
  • Interval Training
  • Sparring (Kyokushin or IchiGeki Kickboxing Rules)

This program is offered to a select group of participates meeting necessary fitness and maturity criteria. Enrollment in this program is at the discretion of the Head Instructor of EKKC.
